Recreational Program
The Recreation Program is a developmental soccer program for all youth, without regard to skill level, who wish to play soccer. Most recreational teams are scheduled to play other recreational teams from within LSA. Sometimes with older age (U12+) division teams there is a need to inter-schedule games with teams from other associations to provide a full schedule and some travel may be required. Once a Recreation Program player is registered and rostered to a team he/she is bound to that team for the specified playing season, unless a transfer request is approved by both LSA and GYSA.

The age group classifications are U-06, U-08, U-10, U-12, U-14, U-16 and U-19. Small sided soccer is played in the four younger age groups playing 3, 4, 6 and 8 players a side, respectively. The purpose of small-sided soccer is to allow the game to be the teacher by maximizing each player's touches on the ball and encourages all the players to develop their skills in all positions. The U-14 and up teams play 11 players a side.

To discourage intense competition in the younger age groups, scores are reported for only the U-10 and older age groups. Recreation Program coaches must meet a minimum coaching license requirement: U-06 & U-08 - State G Certificiate, U-10 - State F Certificate, U-12 - State Rec.E Certificate, and U-14 & up - State E Certificate.

Club Refund Policy
Due to the family commitment necessary to form Academy & Select teams, as well as the general challenges of conducting registration, forming teams, notifying parents and getting the season underway in a timely manner for all players, LSA does not issue refunds except in the following 2 cases:  family relocation or player injury.

New Coaches and Assistants are Always Welcome
"I would coach, but I really don't know anything about the game."  The only true requirements to becoming an effective recreation program soccer coach are a desire to have a positive impact on a group of children and a willingness to give a few hours of your time each week.

As far as all of the standard excuses go, "I don't even know the rules", "I've never played before", they simply don't apply.  With a half day investment for a state 'G' coaching certificate (U6-U8) or one full day investment for a state 'F' coaching certificate (U8-U12) plus a little mentoring from our Director of Coaching you can teach the fundamentals and run effective practice sessions.  More importantly, your time enables a group of kids to enjoy an activity that connects them to the entire world - and it's great fun!!  If you think you would like to provide an opportunity like that, contact us.  We'll help you be very successful.

Volunteers - Volunteers - Volunteers
Still can't talk you into coaching?  OK, there are other ways to contribute to LSA's ability to provide a quality experience for players and parents.  For an organization like LSA to thrive volunteer efforts are needed in the areas of marketing, communications, merchandising, fundraising and club administration.  When you register please let us know about your background and where you would like to help.

What Are the Costs of Playing Youth Soccer?
The costs to play recreational soccer are basically 2:  registration and uniforms.  Registration fees are paid per season.  Uniforms can be worn for as long as they fit or until the club changes uniform styles.  LSA became a Nike Premier Club in the fall of 2006. Uniform style updates will be announced prior the actual change occuring.

Some recreational teams have opportunities to participate in pre and post season tournaments held all over the state.  The decision to play in a tournament is up to the individual team and the individual players.  Costs commonly run $30 - $35 per player to register a team for a tournament.

Fall 2011 Team Rosters and Schedules
Rosters will be distributed directly to coaches.  Schedules for the Fall 2010 season can be found in the publications section of the web-site when they are available.
